Watercolor Sketch II

June 30, 2010
Watercolor
7'x10"
I started this in class as a demonstration and plan to work on it again tomorrow during lunch. It is the same view as the painting done earlier and has some things going on that I think work. The overall color tone is a little yellow but that will change as I layer color over the entire composition.

Watercolor Sketch

June 25, 2010
Watercolor
6"x9"
Did a little sketch of this scene out near the site where I teach. Plan to do a quick demo next week and thought I'd make a test run before I have a crowd watching me. It will be interesting to see what I produce next week.

2-plate monotype

The registration and manipulation of the ink for this little print worked very well. The image is from an old drawing that I revisited and somehow, I managed to capture a little moment of 'poetry' on the paper.

2-plate monotype

This was the second effort of the evening and was not nearly as successful as the first. The color is not right and I should have worked the 'halo' more away from the moon.

Harvest moon II

June 15, 2010
5"x7"
Monotype

After I pulled the 2-plate version of this image I re-worked the ghost and am very pleased with this little image. There was just a wisp of red left on the plate, giving this print just a hint of color.

2-Plate Monotype

I have been thinking about the color of the oil from the gulf I have seen in the news, but this color did not quite hit the mark. It needs to be a little more orange than this rose color I mixed. The print is also not perfect as there is a slight off-registration mark on the right hand side of the image.

Moonscape Cartoon I

June 11, 2010
Copy, tech pen and white-out
5"x7"

Discovered a juried exhibit called Moonstruck at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in MA and decided to rework some old sketches of lunar drawings made over the last few years. With a little luck my boys will let me print tomorrow afternoon and over the weekend as I want to submit new work. You can see where I expanded the copy on the right and left side of the original sketch, I am very pleased with how this worked out.
