Late Summer Color Proof

June 25, 2012
2-plate blockprint
7"x5"

Made 4 proof prints yesterday and have a little carving to do before I print a larger edition.  For the final product I will print what you see as gray in a rich golden yellow.  The hand-registration came out pretty well and in general, I am pleased with this one.

Peacham Bog

June 17, 2012
Charcoal Pencil
5.5"x4"

I have thought of naming this one 'Thank You Marsden Hartley' as it reminds me of this wonderful painting at the MFA in Boston that will always be important in my development as an artist.  Made this nice little sketch over the weekend on a family trip to the Groton State Forest in Vermont.

Tree Forms

June 9, 2012
Pencil on Paper
4"x5.5"

My son's piano teacher lives on this beautiful old farm in Greensboro, VT and I have made several sketches there over the last few years.  While I am not excited about the composition for this one I had fun drawing in the sun and writing down a few words.

Copy and yellow highlighter

I got the general idea for how the color block for this print will look and plan to transfer this drawing to a piece of linoleum this weekend.  Hope to start carving soon...

Block print proof

June 3, 2012
Linoleum Block Print
7"x5"

Finally finished carving this block on Saturday and pulled four proof prints Sunday morning, I am pleased with the result and will start on the color-cartoon for the second block right away.  I plan to print the second a golden yellow color which will sit underneath the black key-block you see here.  Might stitch four of them together and try to stretch them onto stretcher bars like a canvas.  We shall see...
