Carborundum Proof 5

February 9, 2013
Carborundum print with Monotype
4.5"x7"

For this proof print I used a deep peacock blue with a nice orange rolled over the top of the plate.  What I think is important as I can clearly see how to paint the carborundum onto the plate to achieve the desired effect I am looking for.  Next time, I will not lay it on so heavily and be a little more mindful of the clean areas of the Plexiglas.

Carborundum Proof 6

Carborundum print with monotype
4.5"x7"

This is the 6th proof print from this plate and I am really pleased with how I wiped the plate and my color choice.  I have a really good idea on how to use this technique and plan to start three more plates in the near future.

Carbarundum Proof 3

February 3, 2013
Carborundum print on Plexiglas
4.5"x7"

Pulled a couple of proof-prints of this plate after adding some more Carborundum acrylic medium to the plate.  This process is very different for me, but I am liking the heavy sort of atmospheric effect it has created and plan to create another plate this weekend as well as pull another proof using the technique described in the post below for proof 4.

Carborundum Print on Plexi with Monotype

I am just beginning to get a handle on how I want to use the carborundum print technique on Plexiglas and am very pleased with this fourth proof print.  Later this week or over the weekend I will try one more round of proof prints, replacing the black ink with an ultramarine blue and rolling an orange over the clear areas of plexi.  Then I plan to manipulate the orange ink to reveal some of the white of the paper.  Should be interesting...

Color Block Sketch

February 3, 2013
Copy, hi-lighter and white out
9"x12"

Finished the cartoon for the color block for the Tritium Leaks block print.  I will start to transfer the drawing to a block of 9x12 linoleum while I watch the Super Bowl tonight and hope to start carving next weekend!
