Collaborate at SPA

Printed this week with my friend Sabrina Fadial at Studio Place Arts in Barre this week. This was the third session in a series of collaborative printmaking projects. Somehow, the two of us can get together and just work on this project and feed off of each other. Both mentally and with the tactile elements of printmaking, such as ink and the plant forms we are using.

Below if a small sample of the 29 prints we made last week. We will be having an exhibit of the combined work on the 2nd floor gallery at Studio Place Arts from July 22 to August 30, 2014. There will be a reception on July 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Monotype II

April 31, 2014
Monotype
9"x12"

On one level I feel this is the better of the two prints. I worked into them with brushes and three colors, but think I will roll a base of Naples Yellow on the plate first and then work into with the brown, black and white of the plate. Thanks to Studio Place Arts in Barre for making the big press available to myself and the local artistic community!

Monoprint
9"x12"

I ran a printmaking workshop at Studio Place Arts in Barre this week and managed to pull two prints and their ghosts. This is the first and is an okay effort, for a three-color experiment. I have contemplated the process and plan to make a series of these on my 9"x12" copper.

Maine IV

April 16, 2014
Charcoal pencil on paper
3.25" x 4.23"

This is the last of the Maine vacation sketches. Possibly my least favorite but I jotted down a little poem while I sat on the rocks and contemplated the view.

Little Machias Bay
Seems like I have worked this view a hundred times
Fighting the wind and mercurial clouds
Time and time again
