Carborundum Prints

March 17, 2015
2-plate carborundum prints
4"x6"

These two prints were a demonstration of a 2-plate carborundum print on Plexiglas. I showed my students how to use a template and pin the paper under the press roller. The plate needs a little bit more carborundum in a couple of places for a second state.

Legare's Farm

March 10, 2015
Charcoal on paper
4"x5.5"

I have been thinking about sketching this view for what seems like years. This is a scene of the old Legare's Farm on Route 14 in East Montpelier, Vermont. Just started the re-design of the drawing and plan to transfer it to a piece of un-mounted linoleum for a reduction print sometime soon.

Winter Reduction

March 2015
Linoleum Reduction Print
4 3/8 x 5 3/8

This is another small example I pulled for my students at Johnson State College. The reduction print process is one that I have not executed in a little while and it was a blast to pull them on the big press at JSC. You cannot see the beautiful embossing on the paper in this scan but I plan to make more and have a big sheet of linoleum just waiting to be carved.

Drypoint Example

March 2015
Copper Drypoint
2"x4"

Pulled a few small drypoint plates as an example for my students. State one is below and state three is on the top. It has been a long time since I pulled a drypoint and I have to say I am enjoying the process a great deal. It has always been frustrating to pull a sensitive plate on my table-top press and having access to a big press makes me want to buy some bigger copper plates.
